Lead AI Engineer · PhD in Computer Vision

AI that comes back
stronger.

I'm Mohamad Al Assaad, Lead AI Engineer with a PhD in computer vision. I build GenAI systems that hold up in production: retrieval, multi-agent orchestration, and the evaluation that keeps them honest. Lewisia Labs is where I publish the projects and the writing.

Why Lewisia

Named after a flower that refuses to quit.

Lewisia is a rare alpine flower, the bitterroot. It can survive a full year without water, looking dead, then bloom again. It is named after the explorer Meriwether Lewis.

For us it stands for resilience, exploration, and AI systems that keep delivering in the real world, not just in demos. This is the home for the tools I build and the notes I write while building them: the architecture decisions, the evaluation harnesses, and the small apps that come out of them.

Resilience

Bitterroot

A year without water, then it blooms again. Systems built to survive the quiet months and the hard ones.

Exploration

Meriwether Lewis

Named for an explorer. Every project here starts as a map of unknown ground, drawn by shipping.
